Jerene De Laney and Karen Glikman, Guest Speakers
The UU community is an eclectic mosaic of people from various religious (or non-religious) backgrounds. While we engage in many discussions with one another over coffee, we often never discover the paths that led each of us to Unitarian Universalism. We all have an illuminating story to tell and we are hoping others will share their journey via a pulpit share.
Jerene was born in Independence, Missouri and grew up in Santa Barbara and Stockton. She moved to San Francisco in the early 1960’s to work at UCSF as a nurse. For most of her career, she worked as a neonatal nurse. Upon retiring, she taught cooking at Home Chef. She also holds B.A.s in Psychology and Women’s Studies.
Karen was born in Oakland, grew up in San Francisco and moved to Marin in 1981. She holds an M.A. in Anthropology and has worked in personal finance for the last 34 years as a Certified Financial Planner, or as she likes to say, a “Practicing Financial Anthropologist.”
