Report on the June 3rd Congregational Meeting

At the annual congregational meeting on June 3, 2018, President Ted Gaebler and other Board members introduced themselves.  We had a quorum at the meeting of 51 members and 3 pledging friends. Bev Munyon of the Nominating Committee announced the slate of names nominated for the Board:


  • President: Ted Gaebler (Continuing for 2017-2020)
  • Vice President: Janice Prochaska (Continuing for 2017-2020)
  • Secretary: Kat Braeman (Nominated for 2018-2021)
  • Treasurer: Margaret Johnston (Nominated for 2018-2020)
  • General Trustee: Karen Auroy (Continuing for 2017-2019)
  • General Trustee: Kim Holscher (Nominated for 2018-2021)
  • General Trustee: Susan Mathews (Continuing for 2016-2019)
  • General Trustee: Dick Park (Continuing for 2016-2019)
  • General Trustee: Rich Panter (Nominated for 2018-2021)

The slate was approved unanimously. The Nominating Committee for next year of Bev Munyon (continuing) and Jan Seagrave & Dianne Estrada was approved unanimously. Congregational Delegates to General Assembly in Kansas City on June 20-24 were approved unanimously:  Ted Gaebler, Thomas Ervin, & Anne Spatola.

Outgoing Board members Thomas Ervin and Lynne Scarpa where praised and thanked for their dedicated and excellent service to the congregation.

Margaret Johnston, the Treasurer, presented the proposed Operating Budget of $411,055 for Expenditures with Total Revenue of $398,803 for 2018-19 with a possible deficit of $13,000 was approved unanimously by the congregation in order to fund our full-time Developmental Minister and other needed expenses. Planned fundraisers include Auction Committee chaired by Jean Bee Chan and Ken Ross. Lynne Scarpa has proposed three events for 2018.

To close the gap Susan Mathews, Jim Prochaska, & Lynne Scarpa presented testimonials.  Ted & Bonnie offered a $6K match for those wishing to contribute to move our congregation toward becoming a “Fair Share” congregation with UUA. Green supplemental pledge forms were passed out. Several members pledged over $5,000 to reduce the deficit.

Margaret announced Wesley Grant applications submitted were approved by the Board to be granted:  $3K to the Marketing Committee, $500 to the Communication committee, $1,845.37 to upgrade the space for the “Wee Ones” nursery space.

Sarah Tiederman praised the team of people who supported feeding the homeless on Sunday nights and especially highlighted the musical contributions of Walt Littrell and the organization suggestions of Grace Dearborn.

Thomas Ervin gave certificates and praise to outstanding volunteers.
