Just the thing to warm your heart – our Fifth Annual UU Marin Participatory Poetry Service will be on Sunday, January 1st, 2023, at 10:30 am in the Fireside Room. It will be led by Jan Seagrave and Valerie Taylor.

Our theme this year is Holding On and Letting Go. As in years past, we will hear poems about the conflicting feelings on this pivotal New Year’s Day, when we want to keep the old year but also let in the new. The first half of the readings will focus on persistence, endurance, loyalty, holding close, lingering. The second half will be about releasing, forgiving, freeing, loosening, changing.

All are welcome to come to the Fireside Room and to enjoy listening, or to read poems on these themes.

If you’d like to read, begin now to gather one or two poems, written by you or someone else, to read aloud. Each poem should take you no longer than one minute to read. (Please practice at home!)

To keep it cozy as possible, this will be an in-person-only event. We hope you will join us so you can read the poems you chose. If you cannot attend, you may email your poem(s) as Word or .PDF files to janseagrave@gmail.com by Wednesday, Dec. 28, and we will read your poem(s) aloud during this service, if there is time.
