Religion has its root in the Latin verb religare, to bind together. We find ourselves bound together in families, in work, in neighborhoods, in societies. Sometimes there are so many ties binding us that the interdependent web can feel more like a trap than a blessing. How do we honor that which holds us together while still pursuing the joy of freedom?
