I first became aware of UU in 1969 when, as a Family Service Social Worker, my office was housed in William Ellery Channing’s birthplace in Newport, Rhode Island. Then, in 1975, my husband and I were asked to be speakers of the week at Star Island’s Family Conference and we discovered a UU retreat which we have attended ever since.
Forty years later and 50 years without a church, we moved to Marin. I googled UU and saw UU Marin in San Rafael. Here I found a true home and the community I was eagerly seeking who remind me of Star Island families. Between the Sunday Circle and our regular service, I find so many meaningful moments. Indeed, I keep coming back and giving back now as a Worship Associate and a new Board Trustee.
