This Mother’s Day, we return to the Unitarian roots of the holiday. Before flowers and brunch, there was a fierce call to peace and justice. Unitarian abolitionist Julia Ward Howe’s 1870 Mother’s Day Proclamation called women to rise against war. Today, her cry still echoes as we face a world where the most vulnerable bear the heaviest burdens. Join us as we explore the radical wisdom of Howe, ecofeminist theologian Ivone Gebara, and womanist scholar Delores Williams. Together, they offer a theology of survival, resistance, and fierce love. This is a service for all who mother justice. Let us arise!
