On Democracy

April’s worship theme is “Tradition.”  We all carry with us beliefs and customs passed down from generation to generation. Unitarian Universalism, with its rich history and its openness to new revelation, is simultaneously traditional and ultra modern. Let’s spend this month taking stock of what we carry with us from the past, and what we must create anew in the future. 

Democracy is the guiding social principle of our country and our church. For two and a half centuries it has been both celebrated and threatened, evolving and steadfast. 

This Sunday, let’s take an honest look at the condition of our democracy and what we can do to ensure it endures.
