UU Marin member Dave Hudson introduces us to his sixty-five-year love affair with birds, exploring the way in which they express the Spirit of Life, connect us to the rest of creation, and foster an awareness of our interrelatedness with the rest of what is.

David Hudson

Dave Hudson and his wife Kate joined the UU Congregation of Marin a year ago, having moved from the lovely coastal town of Beaufort, South Carlina, to which they thought they had retired. But three sons in the Bay Area drew them west to Marin, where they are now both actively involved with this congregation and with the Marin Audubon Society, Pt. Reyes National Seashore, and the Novato Bayland restoration project. They have been UUs for forty-two years, first in Geneva, Illinois and then in the Atlanta area. It was there in Roswell, Georgia in 2001 that Dave became involved in worship, diving into theology and UU history, going so far as taking an online course in theology at Starr King School for the Ministry. Their first minister in that congregation took him under his wing, tutoring him in the art of sermon writing. He has spoken at UU congregations throughout Georgia and South Carolina and here in the Bay Area. And he is grateful for the honor of speaking at his new home congregation.
