The Stories We Tell ?

Fannie Lou Hamer

The stories we tell become the sources of our conviction. At a time when our newspapers and newsfeeds are filled with stories that can drain our energy to act in the name of Justice, it’s also important to share less-often-told stories that strengthen our hope and resolve. Come hear the story of Fannie Lou Hamer, ’60s Civil Rights activist, and remind ourselves of the transformative power of narratives like hers.

Our speaker, Piper Swim, is currently a part-time seminary student at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. She has been a UU since her teenage years and is a practitioner of Earth-centered Spirituality in the form of Wicca. She is also the Garden Teacher at Aquatic Park School, a preschool in Berkeley, and applies the principles of Permaculture to the systems of her garden classroom.
