Covenant is the foundation of our chosen faith. A spiritual compact we make to be in a committed relationship no matter the circumstances that swirl around us. This month we’ll explore the various aspects of how and with whom we covenant. While many religious communities require their participants to adhere to a particular doctrine or subscribe to a specific creed, Unitarian Universalism bases our sense of community, not on sameness or uniformity, but on a commitment to right relationship amidst all our differences. In these times of polarization, extremism, and isolation, a covenant-based multicultural community is sacred and invaluable. So what do we owe and how can we serve our congregation? And how can our congregation serve and what does it owe us?
